The new ECB Style Guide

To help you understand your gender identity, it includes a "genderbread man" diagram.

Parents, coaches, and players are told to "Make every effort" to replace 'husbands' and 'wives' with spouses and partners."

"Ask people what pronouns are used and tell them."

According to the guide, "old man" or "older woman" should be called "older person", and "young at heart” should be replaced by terms like "driven" or “energetic".

The term "able-bodied" has been dropped and the term "people with disabilities" has been adopted.

According to the England and Wales Cricket Board guide, "The cricket family, like every other area of society, is made up people with different genders, sexual expressions and gender sexes."

Nigel Mills, Tory MP, said that it was absurd. This is where it ends.

"Surely, the England and Wales Cricket Board could do better things."

This guide is a result of last year's announcement that "batters" would replace "batsmen", to make the term gender neutral.
