After a devastating report that slammed 'institutional racism,' the Board of Cricket Scotland has resigned with immediate effect

After it was revealed that the review of Scottish cricket had found it "institutionally racism", the board of Cricket Scotland has resigned.

The directors have confirmed that they are stepping down immediately in a resignation letter to the interim chief executive.

With immediate effect, the board of Cricket Scotland has been removed

Sky News reported yesterday that evidence of racism was found in a "devastating” review of Scottish cricket.

This resignation came just days before an independent report on racism in the Scottish game was due to be published.

Majid Haq, Scotland's most successful wicket-taker, and Qasim Shaikh both claimed they were victims of racism.

After the allegations, Plan4Sport will release a report on racism in sport.

Sky says that police Scotland has been referred to them by investigators investigating allegations of racism.

However, the Cricket Scotland board resigned before the findings were published.

The board expressed their deepest regret to all those who have been victim of racism while playing in Scotland cricket.

In April, an interim report revealed that over 200 witnesses had submitted evidence.

A spokesperson for Cricket Scotland stated that Cricket Scotland would work with SportScotland immediately to ensure the appropriate governance, leadership, and support are in place for the organization and the sport over the coming days.

"And these arrangements are being reviewed after the publication the report into racism cricket in Scotland. Updates will be given accordingly."

The resignation letter contained the following: "We are all truly sorry. We have publicly apologised to everyone who has suffered racism or any other form discrimination in cricket in Scotland."

SportScotland stated that it was an extremely difficult time for all those involved in Scottish cricket.

"We are aware of the decision by the board and will immediately take steps to provide substantial additional governance and leadership support for Cricket Scotland.
