FREDDIE FLINTOFF’s son Corey has made an explosive debut for the Kent Spitfires.
The all-rounder has a remarkable likeness to his cricket icon father and is now following in his footsteps.

Corey Flintoff made his debut for the Kent Spitfires

He hit 29 runs off 20 balls as he finished the innings not out

He hit two sixes and one four

He did not get a wicket with the ball
Corey Flintoff, 19, joined Kent in March but has had to wait for his debut for the club’s short-form side.
He made his bow in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup clash with Middlesex at the Brunton Memorial Ground.
Flintoff’s first action in the game was coming into bat at number eight with the Spitfires 6-198.
He formed an impressive partnership with Jack Leaning as together they scored a further 81 runs off the final 51 balls.
Flintoff made a solid contribution as he smashed an “explosive” 29 runs off of just 20 balls.
During his innings, he hit one four and two huge sixes over the rope.
He did not have as much luck with the ball in hand as he failed to take a wicket in any of his five overs.
However, he impressed in the field as he took two catches as the Spitfires tried to contain Middlesex.

It would not be enough as Middlesex were able to chase down the 279 total in 45 overs.
They were guided through the innings by an imperious display from Ben Geddes who scored 141 runs.
He was joined by Luke Hollman who hit 77 as they both finished off the match in the middles with career best scores.
Kent head coach Adam Hollioake was thrilled with Flintoff’s performance despite the defeat.
He told Kent Online: “I’ve known Corey since he was in nappies, obviously, I’m friends with his dad.
“Seeing him over the last year develop into a young man – I always think of him being young because I’ve known him since he was so young – but I’ve seen him turn into the fine young man that he is.

“Obviously, with the spotlight that’s on you and the way you’ve got to carry that family name, you’ve done that beautifully.
“You’re coming out with your own personality, that’s what I like.
“Everything you have done here you’ve earnt on your own merit (with) your batting, your bowling and your attribute.
“You’re one of the most popular guys in the team. Just keep doing what you’re doing.
“Keep being confident, like you are, and keep improving, like you are, then you’ll have a bright future ahead.”
Flintoff sr is now coaching the England Lions cricket team after landing the job in 2024.
He has an upcoming match with the team against South Africa which starts on August 30 in Worcester.
He got the job after recovering from his 2022 horror car crash while working as a presenter for the BBC’s Top Gear.
