Ben Stokes says he experienced panic attacks while on England duty during mental illness battles

BEN STOKES revealed that he experienced panic attacks while sitting in his England hotel room, where he was using the toilet.

According to Stokes' agent, he was in tears and struggling to breathe while Stuart Broad, his teammate, questioned whether he would ever again play.

Ben Stokes claims that his anxiety levels "went through the roof"

A new documentary shows the full impact of Stokes' mental health struggles.

After a turbulent few years that culminated in his death and a painful finger injury, Stokes decided to take a year off from cricket.

His rollercoaster ride included a high-profile case in court following a fight outside of a Bristol nightclub. He was later cleared of affray in 2018. The highs of 2019 saw England win the World Cup, and Stokes play one of the most memorable Ashes innings.

In a trailer for Ben Stokes' Phoenix from the Ashes (Amazon Prime), Stokes stated that he never imagined that he would feel as happy now.

England's new skipper is Ben Stokes, a Durham star.

Brendon McCullum, the new head coach of red-ball, is confident that they can forge a successful relationship.

McCullum stated to the ECB website that he had the privilege of playing against Stokesy. He said, "I've admired Stokesy from afar - his tough personality and the style of cricket he plays.

He is uncompromising, but he also seems to be a very loyal person. His style of playing cricket is very similar to mine.

Stokes will be a great leader because he'll be a follow me type of guy. He will go against the odds and get over the wall. It's thrilling to coach to have such a captain.
