England star sets unwanted WORLD RECORD by conceding 43 runs in single over as little-known ace shatters host of records

OLLIE ROBINSON set an unwanted WORLD RECORD as he was smashed for 43 runs in a single over.

The England star was bowling for club side Sussex in the County Championship when the moment happened.

Ollie Robinson made history for the wrong reasons in the County Championship

He conceded 43 runs in a single over

Louis Kimber hit eight boundaries off the over

Robinson, 30, was up against Leicestershire star Louis Kimber as he came steaming in for his over.

However, it did not go the way the bowler would have wanted it to as he conceded 43 runs.

Kimber started off with back-to-back sixes, with the second being a no-ball.

Robinson was then hit for a four, six and another four. He then was smashed for another no-ball six.

Kimber then hit another four before dispatching another no-ball over the boundary for six more.

The batter then finished off the over with a single to keep the strike for the next over.

The 43 runs scored is the most in a single over in the 134-year history of the County Championship as well as a world record.

Kimber went on to score a massive 243 runs off just 127 balls before he was bowled by Nathan McAndrew.

His scoring also broke records, as his 21 sixes were the most scored by a batter in a single innings.

It was also the fastest double-century in County Championship history, as he scored his first 203 runs off just 100 balls.

Despite the shocking over, Robinson still finished the match with five wickets as Sussex won by 18 runs.

The unfortunate record for Robinson surpassed former Test bowler Alex Tudor’s 38-run over, which included 34 scored by Andrew Flintoff in 1998.

The bowler was defended by head coach Paul Farbrace who insisted that he has been “outstanding” this season.

He told local media: “He had a stinker of an over, that’s the nature of the game.

“But Louis Kimber struck him absolutely brilliantly. It was fantastic to watch unless you’re on the end of it or you are the bowler.

“But he bowled the next over and he bowled it really well. That showed a lot of courage for me.

“It would have been very easy to have come off at that point. He has been outstanding for us in this game.

“He has got better and better the longer the season has gone on and he is winning us games of cricket.

“With him in our side we feel we can win from any position. We are thoroughly enjoying having him in our team.”
