England wins second Test series victory over South Africa thanks to Ben Stokes

BEN STOKES created more magic moments with the ball, as England won a stunning victory in the Second Test.

Stokes, whose shirt and trousers were stained by sweat and dirt had to drag his body through a 14-over marathon in which he captured two wickets that transformed the day.

England won thanks to Ben Stokes's incredible bowling performance.

After his contributions with bat and ball, Stokes was awarded Player of the Match

After their fourth wicket stand of 87 runs in 43 overs, England was starting to be frustrated, he removed Rassie van den Dussen and Keegan Petesen.

Stokes' heroics occurred just 24 hours after England had taken a match-winning lead with England's 12 th Test century and one hundred from Ben Foakes.

After his double strike, England was certain to win the second Test.

It was only a question of timing: could they do it Saturday? Or would they have to wait until Sunday?

The event saw South Africa's lower order destroyed by England's second new ball, who took the final five wickets in just 30 balls.

England was hammered at Lord's by 12 runs and an innings, but they have reversed their fortunes so spectacularly that the Proteas were defeated at Old Trafford by 85 runs and an innings.

After a brief pause, the Bazball revolution of Stokes, and coach Brendon Mccullum, is back in full swing.

This is five wins in six tests this summer.

England was in complete control from the moment Captain Dean Elgar decided to bat first in difficult conditions on Thursday.

Stokes' fast-paced life could use an epilogue. The documentary film about Stokes was released Friday.

Stokes was in less pain from his left leg this time than he was during another spell at Lord's.

He stated, "This was an incredible team performance, and no-one has taken any backward steps."

"The way that we bounced back after the disappointment at Lord's was very pleasing. It is all about how you play cricket. The way we played here was almost the benchmark.

"Throughout my career, it has been my goal to hit the wicket hard and make things happen using the ball. With the new ball around the corner, I was hesitant to go to Ollie or Jimmy. I felt good and continued to bowl.

"My style is going to have a positive impact on the game. It is clear that if I bowl or bat well, it will lead to the team's success. I enjoy creating my own theatre."

Petersen and Van der Dussen batted with a lot of skill and determination throughout the afternoon session.

Van der Dussen was brave for his fractured index finger. He used his bat handle to make contact with the ball and he frequently removed his hand from it.

Although South Africa's No.5 was caught for 41 on Stokes before tea, nobody took it seriously. Replays revealed a slight edge.

However, he won the first over of the interval against Stokes and there was no doubt.

Stokes' next over saw a ball bounce alarmingly to Foakes and Petersen.

England was forced to admit defeat and crashed through the breach.

After a spell 14-3-30-2, Stokes was finally able to get away from the attack. Six of the overs were before tea, and eight after.

James Anderson and Ollie Roberts were responsible for the second ball.

Anderson took three wickets, becoming the first quick bowler to ever take 950 international cricket wickets (of which 664 were in Test matches).

Robinson played the role of an England bowler again and received 4-43 with his repertoire for bounce, accuracy and probing lengths.

Elgar, who was the best-equipped batsman to bat, was hit by Anderson brilliance at the beginning of the day - bowled with a ball that had been slanted in from the two before.

Sarel Erwee was caught trying to leave the ball, and Aiden Markram made an ambitious drive at Stuart Broad. Aiden Markram edged into the slips.

Broad was relieved more than anyone, having bowled Markram in the previous over. However, Broad narrowly missed a no-ball and the wicket was ruled out.

The Proteas collapsed after Van der Dussen & Petersen were defeated by Stokes.

Stokes said, "Jimmy's amazing - although he is 40, he doesn't act like that." This is a great ambassador for fast bowlers and the game.

"Ollie is an incredibly skilled bowler, and this game proved that he can back up his claims in his third and forth spells."
