England's defeat by India in ten wickets continues as Jos Buttler, the new one-day captain, collapses

JOS BUTTLER had a difficult start to his one day captaincy career. England fell to one of the worst defeats in their history.

Buttler's team was beaten by ten wickets, after they scored just 110 runs with four ducks from the top six batsmen.

This was England's sixth defeat by ten in one-day internationals

Buttler said it was a difficult loss to accept.

India won the match with a run in 18.4 overs and didn't lose a wicket.

It was England's sixth loss in ten-wicket one-day internationals. The match ended at 4.55pm, more than four hours earlier than the scheduled end.

England's Test team under Stokes and Brendon McCullum is changing. The white-ball side appears out of control as Matthew Mott and Buttler take over. They've already lost the Twenty20 series against India.

England are now 1-0 down in the 50 over matches. Two of them will be playing at Old Trafford and Lord's on Thursday.

The pitch was good for some bounce and movement, but it was not great.

Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian master bowler, finished the match with remarkable figures of 6-19. England was at one point threatening to fall below their lowest international one-day total, which was the 86 they scored against Australia in 2001.

Buttler stated that it was a disappointing day for him and a difficult loss. Bumrah showed that there was some in the wicket early and exposed it really well.

"We need to look at how we manage our batting better, particularly if we don't lose so many early wickets.

"But this is not the time to panic or look for faults. Over the past five years, batting has been our super-strength.

"Captain is a difficult job on days like these, but a rewarding job when you win.

"I try to be as balanced as possible. We're working hard to keep this one-day side of the equation.

"It doesn’t change the fact that we are a great team, and I believe that we can come back strong."

England were placed on a grassy field and three of their main batsmen were out for ducks by the end the third over.

Jason Roy, in terrible form, dragged himself on to Bumrah. Joe Root tried to eat a delivery that lifted, and Ben Stokes was caught by Mohammed Shami via his inside edge.

England was 7-3, and any hopes of a quick recovery were soon dashed.

Jonny Bairstow was caught behind the brilliant Bumrah, England's three returning Test stars Stokes, Root and Bairstow. They managed seven runs each.

Liam Livingstone leapt across his crease, trying a ramp shot, but he was unsuccessful and was bowled by Bumrah behind his legs. This was England's fourth duck.

Prasidh was able to catch the ball with a low return catch, as Moeen Ali drove it back at Prasidh.

Buttler was able to hit the first two balls for four, but was stopped at the square leg boundary while trying to hit Shami in the crowd.

England managed to surpass three figures, which was met with an ironic standing ovation by the crowd. However, their 110 all out against India is their lowest ever.

David Willey, the last man out of the match, was seen moving across his stumps while Bumrah took his sixth scalp.

As India pushed to its limit, Rohit Sharma scored five sixes in his score of 76 not out.
