GOODBYE LEGEND

As Shane Warne's 'greatest show of all', live funeral updates

"I was at the Ticketek website by 3:00pm, and I kept refreshing the page when tickets became available."

She said that she was a cricket fan and wanted to be a part of the special night.

She said, "I was there at the MCG when Warne made 999."

Leanne, a Brisbane resident, stated that Warne's sudden death shocked her.

"I'm originally from Brisbane, but I know Dusty (Dustin Martin), but everyone knew Shane Warne, a rockstar who could spin an entire ball.

Ian Hasler (51), is from Bendigo, just two hours outside Melbourne.

He stood near Shane Warne's stand, which was still flooded with tributes and flowers, in preparation for the service.

He said, "We have been coming to the Boxing Day Test every single year for fifteen years."

"I was driving by the MCG when he took 700th wicket. You could hear the roar outside."

According to Mr Hasler, it was his first visit to the MCG since the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said, "I'm a huge cricket fan, and I'm also a big Warney's fan."

The ground was used as a stage for the two-way performance, and large screens were placed on each side.

As part of the broadcast, the MCG scoreboards were also used.

Dignitaries were allowed to reserve approximately 500 seats, including Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who flew from Canberra following budget duties.

The ground was divided with fans seated on either side, with most of the crowd in the Ponsford and members stands.

This was done to ensure the best possible viewing of the spectacular lights show that will take place at the end the two-hour service.

Guy Lavender (chief executive of Marylebone Cricket Club) laid a wreath earlier in the day at Warne's statue.
