Freddie Flintoff’s Top Gear crash seen for first time in dramatic documentary about England cricket legend

FREDDIE FLINTOFF’S horrific Top Gear crash has been seen for the first time.

The England cricket legend, 47, has relived the horror of his ordeal as part of a new documentary.

Flintoff had to be airlifted to hospital in December 2022 following a high speed smash.

The cricket star-turned-presenter had been filming for the popular BBC show at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome.

Following the accident, Flintoff was largely out of the public eye as he recovered from his life-changing injuries.

During the trailer, a picture is shown from the aftermath of the horrific crash.

It is the first time an image of the accident has been made public.

The picture shows a vehicle that has come off the track, with what appear to be paramedics attending to Flintoff on the ground.

Reliving the accident, Flintoff said: “I remember everything about it. It’s so vivid.

“This is what I’m left with… I wouldn’t say I’m embracing them but I’m not trying to hide my scars.”

He has since coached within the England set-up, while he recently returned to TV presenting as host of Bullseye.

Flintoff is now set to be the subject of a 90-minute documentary on Disney+.

On participating in the documentary and speaking about his ordeal, Flintoff added: “I’d lived under the radar for seven months, one of the real frustrations was the speculation, that’s why I’m doing this now.

“What actually happened?”

Flintoff had been driving an open-topped Morgan Super 3, which flipped during the stunt.

He suffered broken ribs and serious facial injuries in the smash.

Opening up on how the crash has affected his outlook on life, Flintoff added: “It’s almost like a reset.

“I’m trying to find out what I am now. I’ve always seemed to be able to flick a switch. I’ve got to find that switch again.”

Flintoff’s documentary will be released on April 25.

Upon its announcement, the sporting icon said: “Cricket’s always been a massive part of my life, shaping who I am.

“Looking back on the highs and the lows, including the challenges I’ve faced since my accident, has been a real reminder of why my career in the sport has meant so much.”
