INDIAN cricket legend Gautam Gambhir left fans shocked at his response after he was asked what his biggest regret was during a live interview.

The former India player, 41, is known as one of the greatest batters in the country after competing for over 13 years.

The star played a key role in India’s success in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 One Day International (ODI) World Cup as he gained the title of the top scorer.

But despite his success on the field, in a recent interview on the Bada Bharat Show, Gambhir revealed his biggest life regret that left cricket fans across the globe stunned.

“I shouldn’t have played cricket,” said the Delhi-based cricketer.

As this was a rapid-fire round of questions, Gambhir didn’t reveal the reason behind his regret.

The left-handed player made his ODI debut for India against Bangladesh in 2003, in Dhaka, and contributed 11 runs from 22 balls in India’s 200-run win.

He later went on to play a total of 58 Tests, 147 ODIs, and 37 T20Is for the Indian men’s cricket team.

Gambhir was presented the Arjuna Award, India’s second-highest sporting award, in 2008 by the President of India, and in 2009, he was the number one ranked batsman in the ICC Test rankings.

The same year, he was the recipient of the ICC Test Player of the Year award.

The former cricket legend who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) also has a 100% win record in the six matches he captained for India in 2010.

Under his captaincy, the Kolkata Knight Riders won their first IPL title in 2012 and went on to win the title again in 2014.

Gambhir not only captained the KKR but also the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Gambhir announced his retirement from international-level cricket in December 2018 after playing his last Test in November 2016.

His last ODI and T20I appearances for India were made in December 2012 and January 2013.

Gambhir is currently the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL as well as an MP for the ruling BJP from East Delhi.

The Indian politician is a current member of the Lok Sabha and received the Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2019 – the fourth-highest civilian award in India.

This comes after Neymar said he and Lionel Messi experienced “hell” at Paris Saint-Germain as they failed to “make history” and revealed his major regret from his time in France.
