FREDDIE Flintoff was grinning as he bravely showed his scars today – after insiders said it’s the “perfect time for a come back”.

The star was snapped turning up to a nets session at Headingley this morning.

Wearing an England-branded bucket hat and hoodie, Flintoff smiled as he entered the Leeds cricket ground.

There were still signs of the horror injuries he suffered after narrowly surviving a 130mph smash.

Flintoff, 45, suffered facial injuries and broken ribs in the 130mph crash in an open-topped three-wheel Morgan Super 3, but has since returned to public life.

Former England cricketer David “Bumble” Lloyd claimed Freddie is being lined up for a permanent job as an England coach.

Lloyd told the Guardian: “I think that’s the way he’s looking. He’s done telly, he’s done boxing.

“This is a perfect time for him to come back. I’m a big advocate for iconic players like that to spend some time away from the game and then come back.”

Retired England all-rounder Freddie was spotted helping the England team during the ODI matches against New Zealand last week.

His wife Rachel was reportedly told to “expect the worst” after his Top Gear crash.

Freddie, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered the injuries when his face was dragged along the floor.

The popular presenter then faced an agonising 45-minute wait for an air ambulance to transport him to hospital.

His wife of 18 years Rachel hurried from their Cheshire home down to Surrey as Freddie underwent four hours of surgery.
