ISIS threatens attacks on Cricket World Cup with image of gunman in stadium ahead of New York hosting India vs Pakistan

A PRO-ISIS terror group has threatened attacks at the upcoming Cricket World Cup.

The chilling message comes just days before the T20 tournament gets underway in Dallas, Texas.

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium is set to host 8 matches at the Cricket World Cup

A pro-ISIS group has reportedly threatened India vs Pakistan game on June 9

The warning comes just weeks after European police were on high alert at Champions League soccer games

This year’s T20 World Cup will be held in the United States and West Indies between June 1 and 29.

A newly released graphic from the terror group shows a hooded man with a rifle over his shoulder, per the Daily Mail.

It references the group game between India and Pakistan at the Nassau Stadium in New York City on June 9.

“You wait for the matches…we wait for you,” reads the caption, with two drones circling in the sky above the stadium.

The warning follows a similar threat issued earlier this month.

US authorities have not raised the threat level of an attack following the poster’s release, per the Mail’s report.

Nassau County police declined to comment on Tuesday, per NBC New York.

“The safety and security of everyone at the event is our No. 1 priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” an International Cricket Council spokesperson said.

“We work closely with authorities in our host countries and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event.”

The Nassau International Cricket Stadium is one of nine venues being used in the tournament, which runs throughout June.

A 34,000-seater popup venue, the arena has been built in Long Island, New York, around 25 miles east of Manhattan.

It will host eight matches in total, including India vs Pakistan on June 9.

As well as the three US host venues, six stadiums will be used across the West Indies in Antigua, Barbados, Guyana, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Trinidad & Tobago.

The final of the tournament will be held on June 29 at The Kensington Oval in Barbados.

“We work closely with authorities in the host countries and cities, and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event,” a joint ICC and Cricket West Indies statement read.

“We want to assure all stakeholders that safety and security of everyone at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place.”

“Unfortunately, the threat of terrorism in its many and varied expressions is an ever-present danger in the world of the 21st century,” the prime minister of Trinidad & Tobago, Keith Rowley, added.

“Given the fact that bad actors can choose to misbehave in any way possible it makes it virtually impossible to completely seal off all opportunities.

“In order to ameliorate these dangers, we at the local and regional levels have remained alert to many threats.

“Singularly or together we have our intelligence and other security agencies working to protect the population in countries and at venues throughout the tournament.”

The warning comes just weeks after European police were on high alert following an ISIS threat against Champions League soccer games.
