Joe Root displayed the flat bottom of his bat to the crowd as he saluted them after the win against New Zealand.
After Root's sensational fourth-innings win, all the plaudits went his predecessor Root.
Root was well supported by Stokes, then Ben Foakes. He accumulated at a perfect rate and looked totally in control during his 170-ball game.
He even seemed to defy physics at one point.
Root stood at Kyle Jamieson's end, as Kyle rushed in to bowl. Root's bat nearly hovered above the other as Kyle Jamieson ran in to bowl. Root's bat was perfectly straight and had no support from England No4.
Viewers were stunned, and Gary Lineker tweeted: "He's an artist!"
One said: "I knew @root66 was talented, but not as magical as this." Is this magic?
Another said: "Matrix glitch again."
Another joked that his bat was New Balance. That's how.

One more: "He's magic."
Everybody seemed to have a theory, with many suggesting that the bottom of his bat was completely flat and not slightly rounded.
One claimed that he was a flat-bottomed bat.
Another said that he had shaved the bottom of his bat to make it flat. This was what I noticed last night.
Another joked, "Flat-bottomed bats make the rocking world turn."
Root achieved a number impressive milestones in the game.
His fourth-innings ton was his first ever. He also had 10,000 Test runs at the same age as Sir Alfred Cook.
Cook, the former England captain, is certain Root will surpass his career total of 12,472 before retiring.
Cook declared after Root's heroics: "He is an absolute pleasure to watch. The most complete England batsman that I have ever seen."
