Why do England players wear red caps?

Andrew Strauss, a former England cricketer, started this tribute to his wife Strauss. She tragically died from a rare form of lung cancer in 2018.

Ruth Strauss, in her honor, established a charity called the Ruth Strauss Foundation that provides support for lung cancer research and support for patients and their families.

The charity that the England players are sporting red caps for is the England Cricket Ground. It was established on the second day at Lord's Cricket Ground's Ashes Test.

Ruth Strauss was who?

Ruth McDonald is best known for being the wife of former England cricket captain.

She was originally an Australian actress who became a business executive.

With the help of Glenn McGrath (an ex-Australian cricketer), Strauss established the Ruth Strauss Foundation. He is also a widower.
