Collingwood spoke out about his interim appointment and said that he was "genuinely excited" to lead the Test team on the Caribbean tour. I cannot wait to get going.

"Having a difficult Test series against West Indies right after the Ashes disappointment gives you a chance to rebuild and reset.

"Playing Test matches in England is the highest honor in the game. My goal is to provide clarity, direction, and encouragement to players to build something special.

"I spoke to Joe Root, Ben Stokes and they are both excited to lead the team in this new cycle.

"Even though they know it won’t be easy, they are willing to try new things to make sure the team succeeds.

"We have the chance to get back on track."

Collingwood was responsible for the T20 tour through the West Indies last month.

He is currently on a break in Barbados, but will rejoin the rest of his squad when they arrive to the West Indies in February 25.

Silverwood was also relegated to the England setup with Graham Thorpe, Ashley Giles and Ashley Giles.

This comes just a few days after the Test series side were defeated 4-0 by Australia at the Ashes Series Down Under.

Captain Joe Root is still able to manage the post-Ashes cleanout and will now lead the team again.

Antigua will host a warm-up match for the tour of West Indies on March 1, with a four day opener.

On March 8, the first test against Windies will begin.
