After his young daughter's tragic death from severe epilepsy, Matt Dunn, England cricket star, was left devastated

ENGLAND cricketer Matt Dunn has been left devastated by the tragic death of his young daughter Florence.

Dunn’s daughter suffered with Dravet Syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy.

The 30-year-old’s club Surrey are offering support to their grieving player and his wife Jessica.

Surrey’s director of cricket Alec Stewart said: “We are all absolutely devastated to hear of Florence’s passing and our very best wishes are with the whole Dunn family.

“We will provide Matt and Jessica with all the support that we can.”

The wider English cricket community have come together to offer their condolences to Dunn at this desperately difficult and sad time.

Essex cricket wrote: “Our heartfelt condolences go out to Matt and his family. Sending our love and strength at this sad time.”

While Yorkshire tweeted: “Sending our love and thoughts to the Dunn family at this incredibly hard time.”

Fans also extended their condolences, with one writing: “So sorry to hear this devastating news, sending love and prayers to the family.”

Another added: “Heartbreaking news. Deepest condolences to Matt and his family.”

Egham-born Dunn has played for home county Surrey since 2010.

A bowler by trade, he uses his right-arm to throw but his left to bat.

Dunn has also represented England, playing for a development side against Sri Lanka in 2011.
