FANS were left stunned after Chris Woakes batted one handed in an attempt to help England clinch victory over India.
England needed 35 runs on the start of day five to win the test and the series.

Chris Woakes batted with one arm against India

The all-rounder was an injury absentee for the first innings

Woakes grimaced in pain after every run
But India devastated the lower order, taking three wickets in just over 30 minutes of play.
That meant Woakes was forced to come out to the crease to bat one-handed, with 17 runs required for England to win.
Gus Atkinson was at the other end of the wicket and quickly hit a six following Woakes’ introduction.
The pair then pulled off a daring run as the ball carried through to the wicket keeper to keep Atkinson on strike.
Woakes grimaced in pain after every run and readjusted his sling, which looked heavily bandaged up underneath his jumper.
The all-rounder suffered a dislocated shoulder on day one of the test and has been absent ever since – from batting and bowling.
He sat out the first innings as England hit 247, losing nine wickets.
But Wokes returned to the crease with his team out of other options to face a fiery India bowling attack, who needed one wicket to win the test and draw the series.
And despite a valiant effort Atkinson was bowled by Mohammed Siraj to clinch victory for India, with Woakes not facing a single ball.
Fans were stunned as Woakes made his way down the pavilion steps and onto the field, with Piers Morgan praising his courage.
He wrote on X: “Our final man comes in, wearing a sling for his bust shoulder so he’ll bat one-handed.
“Incredible courage by Woakes. What amazing drama.”
A fan reacted saying: “That is true commitment right there.”
Another added: “Unreal bravery from Woakes!

One arm, full heart

”
And a third wrote: “Top level commitment.”
