Warne, widely regarded as one of the greatest bowlers of all-time, passed away suddenly at 52 earlier this month.

When tragedy struck, he was on holiday in Thailand on the resort island of Koh Samui.

Today's service was attended by about 80 people, including former Australian Test captains Mark Taylor and Allan Border, Michael Clarke, as well as Aussie singer and TV personality Dannii minogue.

Michael Vaughan, an ex-england skipper, was present as well as Warne’s long-time colleagues Mark Waugh (and Ian Healy).

Warne's ex-fiancee Liz Hurley, however, was not able to attend as she is still working in the UK.

'KINDEST HEART'

Ed Sheeran cries as he remembers his late friend Shane Warne

The actress stated that she was sad to miss the memorial and added: "My heart breaks that Shane's funeral is not in Australia."

"I was filming last evening and with the time jump, I physically can't get there."

Warne’s family was pictured behind the hearse, carrying Warne’s coffin in a lap of St Kilda football club.

Simone Callahan, his ex-wife, also raised a glass alongside his loved ones.

Eddie McGuire, a close friend, said in an emotional speech that he was the best.

Warne was the captain of Australia's One Day Internationals team and was widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers ever.

He was a domestic cricket player for Victoria, and English domestic cricket for Hampshire.

He served as captain of Hampshire from 2005 to 2007, and played his first test match against England in 1992. He also took more than 1,000 international wickets.

The most watched cricket clip of all-time, Warne’s Ball of the Century at Old Trafford 1993 was the beginning of the leg-spinner’s legend.

His first Ashes cricket delivery was a swerve in the air. It landed outside Mike Gatting’s leg stump, and it turned so viciously that it cut the stump.

Australia won the match, clinching the Ashes. Gatting's look of bemusement as he marched off was quite striking.

"SIMPLY THE BEST"

Warned announced his retirement on December 21, 2006 after the fifth Ashes Test match played at the SCG.

He stated that it was his intention "to go out on top", and suggested that he could have retired after the 2005 Ashes series, if Australia had won.

After the news of his passing, tributes pour in. Many referred to him as a "genius".

Piers Morgan stated that Warne was "a genius cricketer, an outstanding entertainer, and a fantastic bloke. He was also a great friend over many years."

Gary Lineker said: "Terribly shocked and saddened to hear the news Shane Warne had died.

"The greatest spin bowler ever. Can't quite believe it. RIP Shane.

On March 30, a state memorial service will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which has a capacity of 100,000.

Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister of Canada, has confirmed that he will attend. Coldplay's Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran are expected send video messages for big screen playback.
