Awkward moment BBC legend leaves co-star ‘blushing’ after cheeky ill-timed comment live on air in England cricket clash

JONATHAN AGNEW was caught making a cheeky ill-timed comment during England’s clash with Pakistan.

The BBC legend was on commentary duty for day two of the second Test match at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan batted first and put up a respectable 366 before they were all out.

While England’s batters tried to put up their response to the hosts, the commentary team started to discuss music.

Agnew, 64, was trying to explain British would band Hot Chocolate to his co-commentator Alex Hartley.

However, he inadvertently said the name of one song at the wrong time.

He said: “God, it is depressing. I am going to be playing through adjoining doors tonight.

“I am going to give you a full burst of Hot Chocolate.”

As Hartley, 31, was speaking, Agnew then said: “You Sexy Thing, not you the song, obviously.

“Don’t be so horrified Alex. What is the future?

“They have never heard of Hot Chocolate. That is it I am playing it tonight, loudly.

“I think I should probably leave right now.”

The song’s name was then met with laughter throughout the commentary room.

Hartley responded to the moment on social media.

She wrote: “Favourite moment of the test so far.”

Listeners also found the moment hilarious as they reacted.

One posted: “Classic TMS moment just now as they discuss Hot Chocolate and Aggers goes through all the songs and says you sexy thing to Alex Hartley.”

A second commented: “I’m enjoying Aggers and Alex Hartley discussing Hot Chocolate. Can hear her blushing from here.”

A third wrote: “I spat some of my tea out, somebody needs to play the song in the background next time Aggers is on.”

A fourth said: “I couldn’t stop laughing for a very long time. Alex and Aggers are a top comedy duo- thanks!”

Another added: “Hahahaha it is a very interesting commentary.”

England ended the second day on 239 for six, with the majority of runs coming from Ben Duckett.

The batter scored an impressive 114, while the wickets of Harry Brook and Ben Stokes both fell cheaply.

England won the first Test of the three-game series last week with record-breaking innings.

Brook did much better than his nine as he smashed 317 runs alongside Joe Root‘s 262.

Root’s score saw him become England’s leading run scorer as he surpassed Sir Alastair Cook.
