England's new white-ball Captain Jos Buttler wins his first victory since replacing Eoin Morison despite Suryakumar Yadav's heroics

ENGLAND escaped a stunning century from Indian batsman Suryakumar Yodav, and won their first Jos Buttler victory.

Yadav scored 117 out of 55 balls, and was close to surpassing England's record of 215-7 in a typical Trent Bridge runfest.

Suryakumar Yadav created a stunning century

England won 17 runs in England's victory. Buttler, who was taking over from Eoin Morison as white-ball captain, enjoyed his first win since that. India won the Twenty20 series by 2-1.

Yadav scored his runs immediately after India's highly-acclaimed top three of Virat Kohli, Virat Sharma and Rishabh Pan were dismissed in the first five overs.

Reece Topley (6ft 7in) left-arm seamer has had to overcome stress fractures in his back. ShreyasIyer (119 runs with Yadav for the fourth wicket) caught a catch.

Topley, Player of the Match: "You must ride the game when things are going your way because there is a lot of times they don't."

"I don't watch much cricket so Yadav has never been on my radar." Although there were some great shots, I felt that we were constantly taking his wicket away from winning matches.

Richard Gleeson made an impressive debut Saturday at Edgbaston and had another successful game, scoring 1-31 in just four overs.

Yadav went from 50 to 100 in 16 balls. He also demonstrated that he can hit the ball through 360° with his imagination and wrist work.

England won the toss and lost the first two games, losing by 50 runs each. India was unable to bat first, and England rested the series.

Buttler continued his modest sequence when, after three juicy boundaries he dragged it on. Jason Roy struggled again with 27 of 26 deliveries, until he was caught in the back.

India paid Dawid Malan for dropping him on four. This was a fairly straightforward catch and bowl chance to Harshal Palel. India's score was 77 runs from 39 balls.

Malan, a T20 batsman alongside other power-packed players like Buttler and Liam Livingstone, is often overlooked or undervalued.

He was previously ranked No.1 in world in the shortest format, and is currently fourth on the list.

Livingstone scored 42 points, including four sixes. England was also above 200 on the best-scoring ground.

On Tuesday, the Oval hosts a three-match series of 50-over matches against India.

Skipper Buttler stated: "That was good entertainment and much more like what I'm used to seeing with my bat after two disappointing games."

"That was an amazing knock from Yadav. One of the finest hundreds I've ever seen."
