Fortunately, no one appeared to be hurt by the falling tiles as the West Indies continued their impressive reply to England’s first innings.
The hosts batted throughout the first day and put up a score of 416 all out with Ollie Pope the pick of the batters with a score of 121.
The West Indies managed to chase down the total and finish their first innings with a lead of 41 as they scored 457 all out.
The visitors looked set to finish their innings behind before their last partnership of Joseph and Joshua Da Silva put on a stand of 68 runs.
Chris Woakes starred for England’s bowling attack as he took four wickets from his 28 overs.
The fast bowler also finished with the best economy rate of all the bowlers with just three being conceded per over on average.
England started their second innings in less than ideal form as Zak Crawley was run out for just three runs.
Meanwhile, Pope saw his bat get broken by a fastball from Alzarri Joseph.
The Test match against the West Indies was England’s first since James Anderson‘s retirement.
The legendary bowler finished his career after the first Test at Lord’s, which England won.
A win in the second Test would see Ben Stokes‘ side complete a series victory ahead of the third clash on July 26 at Edgbaston.
