STUART BROAD compiled a questionable record when he conceded 35 runs during the most expensive over of Test history.
Broad chose to play a mix of sixes and fours as well as a single, with 29 runs being stolen by Jasprit Bumrah, the stand-in Indian skipper.
Stuart Broad scored a record 35 runs with one over against India's number 10, batter.
Broad had just dismissed Mohammed Shami minutes earlier and was the third seamer, after Glenn McGrath and Jimmy Anderson, to take 550 Test wickets.
After being battered for 36-sixes by Yuvraj Singh, Broad held the record for Twenty20 internationals.
He has now delivered the worst T20 and Test overs.
The previous Test over record was 28 runs. This included an Aussie George Bailey batting against James Anderson in the 2013-14 Ashes, and South Africa Keshav Mahraj against Joe Root in 2020.
Broad's over was this...
Ball one - 4 runs. Bumrah top edges a Broad bouncer hook.
Ball 2 - 5 Wides - A second bouncer sails past wicketkeeper Sam Billings.
Ball three - 7 runs (6 + a no-ball). - A short ball is added and Bumrah's top edge goes for six. Broad has gone too far. Broad has conceded 16 runs after one legal delivery.
Four runs for ball four - Bumrah throws a full toss at the mid-wicket boundary.
Ball five - Four runs - An inside edge race to the boundary
Ball six - Four runs - A one bounce four to mid-wicket
Bumrah slings another short ball for a legside six.
Ball eight - 1 Run - Broad takes the ball in his follow through and breaks the stumps. However, Bumrah retains the strike with a quick one.
Social media had a lot of fun with the English pacer. One tweeter said: "Broad concedes 35. He has improved since 2007.
"Bazball has an unreal impact on England. Another tweeter stated that Broad was showing it in his bowling.
One more: "Please let Baz call Stuart Broad for ODI cricket, and give him at least the chance to complete this set."
